Sightseeing

Location 1: Pandoh Dam
Located in the Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh between Manali and Shimla highway, Pandoh Dam is an ideal stopover point. 10 km from Manali, the water channelized by the dam is used to generate power at the Dehar Power House. With the use of long systems and tunnels, the dam diverts the water of Beas towards the Southwest. The man-made lake created by the dam water is a famous tourist attraction, attracting many tourists to spend some alone time with the mother nature. The place is a treat to the eyes for all the nature lovers, surrounded with tall trees and lush mountains. Car itineraries usually do not include an extended stop here, therefore keep a lookout while you pass by this attraction

Location 1: Hadimba Temple
Surrounded by a scenic cedar forest, the 15th century Hidimba Temple is a tribute to Bhima's family, including his son Ghatotkacha. Amidst the Cedar Forest, the temple has a distinctive four-tiered pagoda roof through a large doorway and a stone with an imprint of the feet of the Goddess carved on it. Also known as Dhungri Temple, it is 15 minutes away from the Manali Mall Road.

Location 2: Tibetan Monastery
A beautiful attraction, the Tibetan monastery represents the rich culture and history of the Tibetan people who live in Manali. Out of the various colourful Tibetan monasteries in and around Manali, one of the most important and popular ones is Himalayan Nyingmapa Gompa. Located a short walk away from the Mall Road, the monastery offers an oasis of serenity and peace. You can hear monks chanting, and watch the local Tibetans go about their prayers. Please remember to be quiet and respectful within the premises. Around the monastery you will also find a large number of shops and kiosks selling colourful and unique Tibetan handicrafts.

Location 3: Vashishth Kund
Located in a small village called Vashisht, the Vashisht Kund is situated around 6 kms away from Manali. One of the oldest temples in Manali, it depicts intricate wooden carvings and traditional Indian-style architecture. The temple is named after sage Vashisht, one of the seven main sages of the Hindu religion. According to legends, sage Vashisht meditated here and vowed to start a new life after learning that his children were murdered by Vishwamitra. The temple is also famous for its hot water springs which are believed to have medicinal properties.

Location 1: Solang Valley
Around 14 kilometers from the Manali city, between Beas Kund and Solang Village, lies the Solang Valley, renowned for its scenic beauty and known for hosting finest adventure activities like skiing, trekking, paragliding, skating, zorbing, and parachuting. Not just the adventure seekers, the valley is a delight for nature lovers as well. View of gorgeous Himalayan peaks from the valley further adds to its beauty. The famous Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports is also based here. During winters, the valleys host the famous winter skiing festival.

Location 1: Manikaran
In the middle of imposing snow-capped hills and a fierce river Beas, Manikaran is a famous pilgrimage center, majorly known for Gurudwara Shri Manikaran Sahib, hot water springs, trekking trails and adventure sports. Amidst lush green mountains, the town is only 2.5 hours drive away from Manali and is easily accessible through roads. Tourists from across the country come to take bath in the healing sulfur hot water springs and feel spiritually refreshed at the Gurudwara and numerous temples nearby. Icy cold water from the Parvati river flowing side by side with the boiling hot water creates warm fumes which make for a pristine view to witness.

Location 2: Naggar Castle
Situated amidst the forested hills of the Naggar Town, the Naggar Castle is one of the most popular historical attractions in Manali and has been converted into a heritage hotel now. The castle was built in AD 1460 and was once the residence of Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu. Constructed with stone and wood, the castle features an amazing blend of European and Himalayan architecture. The interiors are adorned with fireplaces, staircases, stone and wood works. Within the premises, there are three small shrines and beautiful art displays such as paintings by the famous Russian Painter, Nicholas Roerich. Visitors can explore this magnificent edifice and also buy souvenirs like wall hangings and artefacts inspired by the Russian painting
